Palestinian Kristallnacht

Message of Kafr Qassem massacre lives on for Palestinians
by Jonathan Cook

In a conflict that has produced more than its share of suffering and tragedy, the name of Kafr Qassem lives on in infamy more than half a century after Israeli police gunned down 47 Palestinian civilians, including women and children, in the village.

This week Kafr Qassem's inhabitants, joined by a handful of Israeli Jewish sympathizers, commemorated the anniversary of the deaths 52 years ago by marching to the cemetery where the victims were laid to rest.

Greeks-Americans are the second most educated ethnic group living in the United States. Through hard work, determination and a desire to sacrifice for the next generation, Greeks have successfully assimilated to American life. But at what price?

Today's young Greek-American has but a vague knowledge of Greek history, with perhaps the most glaring oversight being the Greek Catastrophe and the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923.

Historical Revisionism: Stuck Movie 2008

"In theaters May 30th

Brandi (Mena Suvari) hits Tom (Stephen Rea) with her car on her way home from a night of partying. With Tom still alive but lodged through her windshield, she promises to go a hospital but then decides to leave Tom to die in her garage as she realizes that her future is inextricably tied to her victim. Realizing this plan, Tom knows escape is his only chance for survival."

Official Trailer:

The Movie is based on a true story. The following is a link to a news article about the terrible accident (here). The funny thing is the race of the woman who ran "Tom", his real name Gregory Biggs, over with her car has been changed. The True life "Brandi", her real name Chante Mallard, was an African American woman, who has now been replaced by a white woman in the movie. Revisionism, now matter how small, must not be allowed. Millions of people will come to watch this movie in theaters and will walk away thinking exactly what the movie's director wants them to think. Its small things like 'just a movie' that have the greatest impact on average people.

Flag Proposal for Hellenic Community of Pelagonia, FYROM

Those of you who follow my blog know that I’ve released two flag proposals this year for the Hellenic regions of Thraki and Ionia. With the current buzz around the Stop Skopje rally taking place October 27th. I’ve decided perhaps the Hellenic Community of Skopje needs a flag to rally behind as their own symbol of unity. With this in mind I’ve created 3 flag designs using Skopje’s Monastiri Municipality flag, the Star of Vergina, and other community flags in FYROM for inspiration.

Below are my 3 proposed Flag designs:

Design 1

Design 2

Design 3

The following is some information dealing with minority flags in FYROM

Law on the flags of national minorities
This law was abrogated by the Constitutional Court short after its release.
Law on the use of flags through which the members of the nationalities in FYROM express their identity and the national particularity

I. General Prescriptions.
Article 1. This Law determines the use of flags through which the members of the nationalities in FYROM express their identity and the national particularity.

Article 2. The members of the nationalities in the FYROM have the right to use a flag to express their identity and the national particularity.
The flag of paragraph 1 of this Article is considered to be a flag that the members of the nationality have chosen and are using it as a flag to express their identity and the national particularity.

II. Use of the flag through which the members of the nationalities in the FYROM express their identity and the national particularity.

Article 3. The members of the nationalities have right to use the flag from Article 2 of the Law while celebrating in their private lives and when maintaining cultural, sporting and other manifestations organized by the members of the nationalities in FYROM.

Article 4. The flag from the Article 2 of this Law may not be displayed in front and in these objects and institutions:
- The Parliament of FYROM, the President of FYROM, the Government of FYROM, government institutions, courts, office of the public attorney general of FYROM, the Constitutional Court of FYROM and the National Bank of FYROM;
- Institutions of the units of local self-government
- Public services and companies that are established by FYROM or the units of local self-government and other public objects, companies, societies and organizations.

Article 5. In the units of local self-government in which the members of one nationality have relative majority, in the holydays of FYROM determined by the Law, beside the state flag in front of the institutions of the units of local self-government, it could be displayed also a flag through which the members of that nationality express their identity and the national particularity.

III. Penal Provisions.

Article 6. With a fee between 50.000 and 200.000 denars it shall be fined for an offence a legal person that uses the flag from the Article 2 against the provisions of the Article 4 of this Law.

IV. Final Provision.

Article 7. This Law becomes valid on the day of its publishing in Službeni vesnik na Republika Makedonija (the official gazette of the State).

( α) Οποιαδήποτε πράξη που έχει στόχο η την επίδραση τής στέρησης τους από την ακεραιότητά τους ως ευδάκριτους λαούς, η από τις πολιτιστικές αξίες η τις εθνικές τους ταυτότητες;

( β) Οποιαδήποτε πράξη που έχει στόχο η την επίδραση τής απαλλοτρίωσης τών εδαφών τους, η τών πόρων τους

( γ) Οποιαδήποτε μορφή μεταφοράς πληθυσμών που έχει στόχο η επίδραση στήν παραβίαση η υπονόμευση οποιωνδήποτε από τα δικαιώματά τους;

( δ) Οποιαδήποτε μορφή αφομοίωσης η ολοκλήρωσης από άλλους πολιτισμούς η τρόπους ζωής που τούς επιβάλλονται νομοθετικά, διοικητικά η με άλλα μέτρα;

(ε) Οποιαδήποτε μορφή προπαγάνδας που κατευθύνεται ενάντια τους;

Hellenic daydreams

By Ioannis Fidanakis

In the final years of the 90s many of us watched in horror, as the West’s dreams of dismantling Yugoslavia became a reality. We saw the rise of NATO backed states founded on the remains of NAZI puppet governments from the Second World War, with the establishment of the Neo-Ustasha state of Croatia. We witnessed the creation of the Mujahideen movement for an Islamic Bosnian nation. In the 21st century we have seen heroin drug dealers wanted for War Crimes become Prime Minister’s of such illegal states as Kosovo, all under the disguise of Human Rights and Globalization.

Western Imperialism has come to rest in the heart of Haimos (the Balkans) through new US military bases and dreams of American oil pipelines. And yet the most ancient of nations on our peninsula, the Hellenic nation, continues to sleep, believing that it’s National Integrity will be respected. While the Hellenic nation prefers to smoke its cigarettes and drink itself into a national comma at its cafes. Our enemies have settled within our mist. Our politicians have gone to bed with foreign powers – bent on the dismantlement of the Hellenic Republic and revision of its ancient history.

Today, the bastard children of Tito’s Communist Yugoslavia attempt to steal and rewrite the very core foundation that makes up Hellenism. Using their Stalinist tactics of discrimination and revisionism to change the Hellenic characteristic of Macedonia. We are living in the crucial age in which we may actually see the full slavization of Macedonia and its history. This is only the first phase in Skopje’s plan to occupy Thessaloniki and realize Tito’s dream of a port on the Aegean Sea.

We have witnessed the rebirth of Mussolini’s Greater Albania with its first phase being realized with the illegal declaration of Kosovo Independence and the West’s recognition of such. The Albanian drug cartel, with its connections to Bin Laden’s terrorist network, have been organized and supported by NATO to cause instability throughout Haimos. Sleeper cells of the UCK lay in waiting under aliases in Montenegro, Skopje, and Hellas. Waiting the next planned phase of their mission to realize Greater Albania.

The Neo-Ottoman state under its Kemalist regime continues its policies of ethnic cleansing in both Cyprus and Kurdistan. It continues its oppressive state sponsored racism and terrorism against its religious and ethnic indigenous minorities. And finally, continues its national policy of denial and revisionism towards the Hellenic, Armenian, and Assyrian Genocides. Yet our youth remains infatuated with socialist-liberal fairy tales. Which poor out the rambling mouths of old men with defeatist perspectives that call themselves our politicians and community leaders.

Gone are the days of Leonidas and Alexander. We have said farewell to hero’s like Basil II and martyr’s like Palaiologos. To men like Kolokotronis and Diakos. Where are the great statesmen of Venizelos and Metaxas’ character? Our nation stagers blindly towards its own destruction while the masses stand by and allow our treasonous leaders to steer the nation deeper into the abyss. When will our nation’s fear of confrontation disappear and be replaced with our past noble character of resistance – under the battle cry of freedom or death! When will we remember that Hellenes have always been outnumbered and always fought against the odds to victory.

The dismantlement of Hellas lies upon the horizon and our enemies are fully mobilized and ready to strike. Their mouths salivate, like Vultures flying over a rotting corpus. Is our fate the same as Yugoslavia’s? Are we to see a Hellas no bigger then just Athens with Epirus falling to the Albanians, Makedonia to the Skopjeans and Thraki to the Turks? While we are left with a rump Athenian state fully globalize and multicultural, without the slightest Hellenic cultural or ethnic character what so ever? Only time will truly tell if this will be reality or just paranoid thoughts that never were. In the end a new generation of Hellenes must decide, do they really want to be remembered as the ones that allowed our nation to fade away into history?

October 3, 2008

The Following write up was sent to me by an individual that was at the Conference. The following is a small writen up he has shared with me from this event.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies ‘New Democracies Project’
held a forum called ‘New Allies and the New U.S. Administration: Priorities for CEE-U.S. Relations’ on Thursday, October 2, 2008. The forum had the senior foreign
advisors for the McCain and Obama Presidential Campaign. The forum participants
asked questions and comments on US foreign policy in Central/Eastern European.
A long list of around 50 people attended the forum.

The New Democracies Project is directed by CSIS think tank scholar named
Janusz Bugajski. Bugajski is a Pole from Poland who in the past has hosted
topics advocating Kosovo independence before the notion of independence was on the table. He has been author of books such as ‘Kosova Rising: From Occupation to Independenc’e (Koha, 2006), ‘Atlantic Bridges: America’s New European Allies’(2007),
Cold Peace: Russia’s New Imperialism (Praeger, 2004). He chairs the South Central Europe Area Studies program for U.S. Foreign Service Officers at the Foreign Service Institute and has testified before various congressional committees, including the Helsinki Commission, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the House Defense Appropriations Committee. Bugajski holds an M. Phil. in social anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has written many articles including articles that were published Modern Greek Studies Yearbook (2001).

CSIS is the only institution of its kind with resident experts studying the transformation of all of the world's major geographic regions. CSIS specialists seek to anticipate changes in key countries and regions–from Africa to Asia, from Europe to Latin America, and from the Middle East to North America.

At this forum, the following groups attended as participants; Hungarian American Coalition, The FYROM lobby so-called ‘United Macedonian Diaspora’, American Polish Forum, American Friends of the Czech Republic, Friends of Slovakia, Georgian Association, Lithuanian American Community, National Albanian American Council, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, American Hungarian Federation, Bosniak American Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, Joint Baltic American National Committee, Estonian American National Council, American Latvian Association, Lithuanian American Council, and Foundation for Democracy, Liberty, Culture from Romania.

The core sponsorship in terms of money for this day long Forum came from the Skopian Lobby outfit called ‘United Macedonian Diaspora’, American Polish forum, and Hungarian American Coalition. The main organizer for this forum was the CSIS
under Janusz Bugajski.

Bugajski opened the forum with comments saying how the US has 22 million Americans of Central European ancestry. He grouped the Poles, Balts, Czechs, Hungarians, Romanians, etc together. He said how this group can be force in the upcoming and future elections concerning issues of importance.

The Senior Policy Advisor for the McCain campaign, Kori Schake, came to speak to the forum participant group about his foreign policy objectives in Central and Eastern Europe. Schake is a Hoover Institute fellow. She spoke how McCain favors a Democratic alliance. She gave very anti-Russian tones by saying how Russia is not a ‘democracy’ and how they want to help Russia be more democratic. They condemned Russia’s threats and invasion into Georgia. She made no mention about Greece or NATO in the beginning. McCain supports a league of democracies.

McCain Campaign “The Greeks ought to move on.”

Questions were asked only by the main forum participants/sponsors of the CSIS conference. Meto Koloski of the Skopian lobby asked a question to Schake.
Koloski asked ‘At the Bucharest Summit, two precedents happened, Skopia was blocked into NATO by Greece over the name unilaterally and the rest such as Germany and France did not support Georgia or Ukraine into NATO. What is the McCain position on this?

Schake replied ‘McCain favors Ukraine, Georgia, and Skopia(called it Macedonia’) into NATO to create stable, fledging democracies.’ She said how NATO creates stability.
She says this will strengthen their democracies.

A last question was asked by Skopia’s hired lobbyist, Joe Foley. Foley represents the National Croatian Federation, and the Skopian Lobby(United Macedonian Diaspora)/ Skopje government.

Foley asked how Croatia and Albania were accepted into NATO while Greece unilaterally vetoed FYROM in to NATO while Greece rejected two names by Nimetz before the Bucharest Summit and that his friends from the Defense Department noticed a large Russian military purchase of Greece If this is true and with Russians benefiting from this. What is the campaign’s view.

Schake replied, “ It is unfortunate that Greece blocked Macedonia into NATO. I think it would be a friend and ally of the USA if Greece accepted them. It would be self-interest for the U.S.A.. The Greeks ought to move on. Greece is not a back-door Trojan horse into NATO for Russia.”

Panel Discussion-Jamestown Foundation attacking Greece over the Burgas-Alexandropouli pipeline

The first panel discussion arranged after the McCain advisor left the room was about various topics on Central Europe, Ukraine, Russian intentions, etc. However, the relevant comment came from Vladimir Socor who deals with energy policy for the Jamestown Foundation of Washington DC. In one of his list of recommendations, he said the EU needs to find the Burgas-Alexandroupoli pipeline unacceptable since it’s Russian oil.

Obama Campaign ‘ The only way out of this is to over the name’

Philip Gordon spoke on behalf of Mark Brzezinski as the Europe Expert to
the Obama campaign. His presentation did not include detail policy briefings
for each European country. He spoke how the US lacks diplomacy and inspire not with the military. He said how Obama has personal interest in Europe due to his
ties with Chicago’s ethnic groups. He said the US can’t achieve things without strong allies. When he spoke about NATO enlargement, he mentioned Ukraine and Georgia. He said how Obama favors NATO expansion for Ukraine and Georgia. Gordon did not
mention Skopia.

In the question/answer period, the first one to ask a question was Meto Koloski of the Skopian Lobby outfit(United Macedonian Diaspora). He asked Gordon
how “there is concerns on FYROM. Senator Obama has cosponsored S.Res. 300 about the propaganda against Greece by Skopia. At the Bucharest Summit, Greece denied entry to Skopia over its name, two days prior to the summit, they denied the name. Now, what will Senator Obama do to solve this problem…by keeping out Skopia of NATO?”

Gordon replied how ” Senator Obama is a cosponsor of S.Res. 300. He said how it does say that country refrain from spreading propaganda in a place where it’s known to take place. He said how the countries involved should find a solution. There is no other way around this. This is not stabilizing. The only way out of this is to talk over the name. I would encourage the process for this.”

Views of Skopian Lobby against Greece

The second panel discussed the Fulbright program which was not relevant. At the end of the whole panel discussion, the various European groups involved gave a brief
speech to end the forum. By this time, the room emptied out of people who came to hear the McCain and Obama campaigns.

Meto Koloski told the forum how his group’s biggest issue is the name issue of Macedonia with Greece. He said it’s unacceptable how one member state in NATO blocks the country. He gave recommendations to the next US Administration. The Skopian lobby is pushing an alternative to the Burgas-Alexandropoli pipeline. He says this route lacks support or funding. The pipeline they are proposing is from Bulgaria-Skopia-Albania. The second is they are proposing an East-West highway from Durres, Albania-Skopia-to Bulgaria to bypass Greece. They are pushing Skopia into the Black Sea Region cooperation group which Greece is a member. He cited how Skopia is a net exporter of security and is helping U.S. against terrorism, political Islam, etc. The last issue he spoke of concern was for the rights of minorities in Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, including the Macedonian minority. A lady from the Lithuanian organization asked what name they favor. Meto replied that he favors only ‘Macedonia’. He gave an example of the country of Georgia, state of Georgia. He gave how there is a province in Belgium called Luxembourg and a country called Luxembourg. He said how ‘Macedonians’ have a right to self-determination.

The Greek Embassy led by Panayiotis Giotopoulos responded to Meto’s allegations by saying how they are talking to FYROM over the name issue. He also said how FYROM is inventing minorities and gave a quote how nationalism is like a cheap drunk which can be toxic.

Meto gave a reply how his family is from Greece and we’re discriminated in Greece. He said his family comes from Thessaloniki.

The whole forum ended by 3:30pm with this exchange of Meto.
